Suspect remanded over use of Jeep with false number plates

A person taken into custody along with the jeep bearing deceptive number plates said to have used by UNP Puttalam district parliamentarian Palitha Range Bandara, has been produced in the Puttalam District Court and remanded.
The jeep was seized along with a magazine and 16 live cartridges by army personnel attached to the army camp at Puttalam and handed over to the Puttalam police.
The jeep had no licence and other documents proving ownership too were not found said Wayamba West DIG Santha Rajapakse. Subsequent inquiries have revealed that the license number of the jeep was identical to the one used by Textile Industries Minister Mahinda Ratnatilake, the D.I.G added. - Daily Mirro
